Freight per ton and lumpsum
Owners quote per metric ton or as a lumpsum for the voyage. Both sides want to see the other number, and what is left after commissions.
How it is calculated
- Lumpsum = rate per mt × quantity
- Rate per mt = lumpsum ÷ quantity
- Net = lumpsum × (1 − commissions)
Address commission goes to charterers, brokerage to the brokers; both are deducted from freight as agreed in the charter party.
