Vessel Chartering for Electric Buses and Heavy Equipment

Buses, trucks, tractors and other rolling units shipped on ro-ro, multipurpose or general cargo vessels with lashing and securing arrangements.

Electric buses and wheeled machinery are fixed unit by unit: length, width and height of each unit, its weight and ground clearance, whether it rolls on its own wheels or has to be lifted, and the battery type, state of charge and battery safety documentation the carrier will ask for.

That decides Ro-Ro or Lo-Lo, the lashing and chocking plan on board, and which vessels can work the units at both ends of the voyage.

We act as independent shipbrokers and do not own vessels.

Cargoes We Work With

  • electric buses and public transport vehicles;
  • construction machinery;
  • industrial equipment;
  • agricultural and specialized equipment;
  • wheeled machinery;
  • oversized and heavy cargoes;
  • project cargoes;
  • non-containerized cargoes.

Our Role

Our work may include vessel search, freight indications, fixture negotiations, charter party support, communication with involved parties and voyage follow-up from loading to discharge.

Ro-Ro or Lo-Lo, Batteries and Port Handling

For electric buses and other battery-powered units we confirm before fixing:

  • Ro-Ro or Lo-Lo — whether the buses can be driven on board or have to be lifted, which decides the vessel and the ports able to handle them;
  • dimensions and weight — length, width, height and weight of each unit, and the ground clearance for ramps;
  • battery and UN classification — battery type, state of charge and the UN number and class under which the units are declared for carriage by sea under the IMDG Code;
  • driving condition — whether each unit runs under its own power or has to be towed or lifted;
  • port handling — ramp or crane availability, terminal storage and the handling of the units at the loading and discharging ports.

Information Required

For a freight indication, please send:

  • number of units;
  • weight of each unit;
  • dimensions of each unit;
  • photos or technical drawings;
  • self-propelled or non-self-propelled status;
